Joanne Mae Borgen, 80, passed away peacefully Tuesday, November 17, at Sanford Palliative Care Unit.
Joanne was born January 31, 1935 to Oliver and Vergie Irene Bolstad at their family farm near Colfax, ND. Her family lived at the farm until she was around 11 years old, when they moved to Fargo, ND. Joanne graduated from Fargo’s Central High School in 1953.
Joanne married Steward E. Borgen on August 13, 1955. She was a dedicated wife and homemaker. In addition to raising their four sons, Joanne was an avid volunteer at Olivet Lutheran Church, helping in the nursery, working on the church newsletter, the Emblem, and helping with other church activities.
She enjoyed sewing and quilting for family and friends, especially for new babies. She relaxed by reading and spending time with family and friends. She especially enjoyed being at the family lake home. Joanne was an amazingly sweet person and loved being with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Joanne is survived by one sister: Carolee (Everett) Jones, Lakewood, OH; three sons: Jay (Michelle) Borgen of Glyndon, MN, Gary Borgen of Camarillo, CA, and Tom (Kelly) Borgen of Fargo, ND; eight grandchildren: Jessica (John) Gladney of Colorado Springs, CO, Jason (Allie) Borgen of Colorado Springs, CO, Casey Anderson of St Cloud, MN, Chandi (Jake) Mueller of Hawley, MN, Chris Borgen, serving in the US Navy, Laura Borgen of Camarillo, CA, Devan and Brianna Borgen of Fargo, ND; seven great-grandchildren: John and Jackson Gladney, Jason and Aspen Borgen, and James Mueller, and Reece and Asher Anderson.
She was preceded by her parents, two brothers, Donald Eugene and Oliver (Red), her husband Steward, and son Steve.
