Jeremy John Vatnsdal, 34, succumbed to a long illness on Monday, March 17, 2014.
Jeremy was born in Roseau, Minnesota to Rick and Roxane (Olson) Vatnsdal on November 20, 1979. His dad then taught him how to skate and how to play hockey. He soon got involved in the organized hockey program and played for Mites and Squirts as a goalie.
Jeremy’s life took a turn as he lost his father to a brief but courageous battle with cancer.
His family moved to Moorhead in August of 1990 where he was extremely active in baseball, hockey, football, and golf. He was a member of Team Minnesota as a goalie and also a member of the Moorhead bantam team when they won the National Championship. He also started for the Moorhead Spud football team three years as a corner on defense.
He graduated high school in 1998 and attended MSUM for one year before going on to attend Aakers Business College. Jeremy went to work for the Ponderosa Ranch in Tahoe as a ranch hand and also as a performer in gunfight re-enactments at the ranch.
He then came back to Fargo/Moorhead to work in the plumbing wholesale business and worked his way up to be a salesman at Ferguson. Jeremy was an avid golfer and enjoyed taking his customers on golf outings.
Jeremy was well loved and will be missed by his many friends and family. He loved children and was eagerly awaiting the birth of his niece in July. He will be remembered for his smile and sense of humor. Jeremy had a personality and laugh that would light up any room.
Jeremy is survived by his mother, Roxane, and step-father, Rick Myhra; sister, Sara and her husband, Craig Larson, along with their daughter to be born in July; paternal grandmother, Doris Vatnsdal; maternal grandparents, Harley Olson and Lois Olson; and many uncles, aunts, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Rick Vatnsdal, and paternal grandfather, James Vatnsdal.
