Jeffrey Morken

Jeffrey Edward Morken, age 57, passed away on Saturday, September 3, 2011 in Ada, Minnesota. Jeffrey was born April 17, 1954, the son of Harding "Ed" Morken and Marian E. Morken, in Grand Forks, ND. He graduated from Fargo North High School and attended Moorhead State University (MSU). Jeff primarily worked as an over-the-road trucker. He was a voracious reader and book collector. At one time, as a pianist, he played accompaniment for silent movies at MSU. Jeff had a soft spot for dogs and over the course of caring for his own and those of family members, he wore out many pairs of shoes on their frequent walks. Jeff had a depth to him that his few words would suggest. He was inquisitive and sharp and on more than one occasion, he assisted his friends by thoroughly researching legal matters. He was genuine in his compassion for others which was apparent in his support of a disadvantaged child in Ethiopia, his gifts of advice to his friends and family and his steadfast companionship to his mother. Jeff could surprise you by pounding out an impromptu song on the piano, bursting into song in lieu of saying grace or bestowing you with gifts that made him think of you. He was a loving son, brother and uncle and will be dearly missed by his mother, his siblings Jennifer Lewis (Don), Jonathan Morken (Vicki), Janet Morken (Bill), Joanna Morken and James Morken (Carol), and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his father. Memorial Service: Saturday, September 10, 2011 at 3:00 p.m., at Messiah Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND. Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the church.
