It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Jan Ward, who walked through heaven's gates June 4th, 2025 at the age of 79. Jan was a beacon of strength, a cherished mother, grandmother, and friend, and her presence will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched.
Born on February 10, 1946, in Grand Forks, North Dakota, to Mildred and Leonard Reep, Jan embarked on a path of service and compassion. She pursued her calling in Nursing at Wahpeton State College of Science, where she honed the skills that would define her remarkable career. Those who were fortunate enough to be under Jan's care experienced an unparalleled sense of individualized attention and genuine concern. Jan's retirement from Sanford Medical didn't slow her down; she discovered immense joy in her next chapter, serving as a sample lady at Hornbacher's Village West. As a volunteer, she brought tremendous energy to the Sheyenne Speedway.
Jan's legacy lives on through her loving family: her daughters, Bobbiann (Benjie) Froemke of West Fargo, North Dakota, and Lisa Barth of St. Louis Park, Minnesota; and her son, Eric Moltumyr of Eden Prairie, Minnesota. She also leaves behind two grandchildren, Alyssa and Arika Barth, both of Phoenix, Arizona. Jan was preceded in death by her parents and her uncle, Leonard Borgen.
Jan Ward was, quite simply, the good in the world. She will be remembered for her unwavering compassion, her quiet tenacity, her boundless selflessness, and her incredible strength. Beyond her professional devotion, she is celebrated for her legendary baking and those infamous one-liners that could always bring a smile. To know Jan was to love her, a truth that resonated deeply with everyone she encountered. Her memory will continue to inspire us to live with the same warmth and generosity she so effortlessly embodied.
