Jane LaLiberté Butler died after a long illness on July 28, 2010, in Fargo, North Dakota. She was born on June 9, 1950 in Springfield, Massachusetts. Jane was a public school teacher, avid flower gardener and was especially interested in the preservation of historic homes and buildings. She spent many years restoring her 96-year-old home on South Terrace in Fargo. Jane was the Vice President of the Oak Grove Neighborhood Association, a Member of the Fargo Moorhead Heritage Society, and served on the Fargo Planning Commission. She was also an active member of the Fargo Moorhead Unitarian Universalist Church. Jane was a graduate of the University of Massachusetts and attended graduate classes at Minnesota State University, Moorhead. Jane taught in the public schools for nearly 30 years, and was a Special Education Teacher in Moorhead Public Schools for over 20 years, certified for Emotionally and Behaviorally Disturbed children. She started the Moorhead Community Alternative Program at Moorhead Public Schools. Jane is survived by her husband of 38 years, Malcolm Butler, her son Nicholas Butler, and her Mother, Sister, and five Brothers, as well as nieces and nephews, in southern New England. Memorial Service: Tuesday, August 3, 2010, at 10:00 AM, at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, ND. Visitation: Monday, August 2, 2010, from 5:30-7:00 PM, at the Fargo Moorhead Unitarian Universalist Church, Fargo, ND, all are welcome. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the service at Hanson-Runsvold.
