Jane Kaiser Gordon

Jane Kaiser Gordon, 71, Pelican Lake, MN, died peacefully October 8, 2011 at the Emmanuel Nursing Home, Detroit Lakes, after a twenty year battle with breast and ovarian cancer. Jane was born August 7, 1940 in Fargo, ND to Ervin E. and Margaret Kaiser. She attended Fargo elementary schools and was a 1958 Fargo Central High School graduate. She attended NDSU and graduated from UND with a BS in Elementary Education She met her husband, David, at UND and they were married December 27, 1961. Jane taught physical education briefly at NDSU before beginning her family of three girls: Martha Jane Arnhart (Randall) Longview, TX, Andrea Frost (Erik) Ketchum, OK and Allison Cook (Eric), Houston, TX. She was a teacher at heart, teaching Sunday school as well as swimming, one of her great interests. She was a lifeguard for many years. She enjoyed playing bridge, mah jong, golf and tennis, and boating at their Pelican Lake home. And of course, shopping and lunching with friends and family, both near and far. Jane’s inner beauty shone through the modeling experiences she had at Dayton’s and other Fargo stores. She helped to bring beauty into other people’s lives through her color analysis business. Her positive faith was fostered at First United Methodist, Faith United Methodist and Calvary United Methodist churches. More recently, they became a part of the Cormorant Lutheran congregation. Jane’s other activities included the Fargo Junior League, Gamma Phi Beta Alumni, PEO Sisterhood, Bible Study Fellowship and Young Life Adult Committee. Jane had a unique ability to make everyone feel like they were her very special friend. Her care, love and concern for others, despite her own difficult situation, will always be remembered. She is survived by her husband, David D., her daughters and their husbands, eight grandsons: Bracken, Harris, Truitt, and Kaiser Arnhart, Nikolas and Hyatt Frost: and Dalton and Hunter “Ozzy” Cook: and her sister, Nancy Dawson, Mandan, ND. She was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret and Erv Kaiser. The family is especially grateful for the kind and compassionate care Jane received at the Emmanual Care Center along with Hospice during these last few weeks. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Susan G. Koman Foundation, Dystonia Medical Research Foundation or Hospice of the Red River Valley. Memorial Service: Thursday, October 13, 2011 at 11:00 AM at First United Methodist Church, Fargo, ND. Visitation: Wednesday, October 12, 2011 from 6:30 – 8 PM at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home with a prayer service at 8 PM.
