Obituary

Jim Weekly, 77, of Moorhead, MN, died peacefully on Thursday, July 3, 2014 at Sanford Health in Fargo, with his family by his side.

Jim was born December 9, 1936 to James and Gertrude (Moore) Weekly in Hannibal, MO. He graduated from Hannibal High School in 1954. Jim served in the US Army and Air Force for 28 years as a Veterinary Technician and Inspector General for base commissaries.

Jim married Mary E. Robinson on December 26, 1960. In 1961, their son, James “Jimmy” Wesley was born; and in 1970 their daughter, Elizabeth “Betsy” Jane.

During his service in the Air Force, Jim traveled all over the world, inspecting military base commissaries. He served in the Vietnam War from 1968-1969. After retiring, Jim was a Meat Inspector for Topco, Inc. He traveled the US and Latin America inspecting seafood, beef, pork, and chicken.

Jim loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing, including fly-fishing in Utah, cat-fishing in MO, and fishing salmon and halibut in AK. He also spent time doing backyard gardening, reading, and enjoying his cats, Pete and Repete.

Jim is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary; son, Jimmy Weekly, Omaha, NE; daughter, Betsy (Darren) Dreessen, Moorhead, MN; brother, Joe (Marsha) Weekly, Hannibal, MO; sister, Karen (Roger) Likes, Hannibal, MO; grandchildren, Emilie, Briana, Elizabeth, and Olivia; and two great-grandchildren, Khloe and Klaire.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his step-father, Lloyd Leake.
