Jack Toy, 79, of Fargo, ND, passed away Monday, June 17, 2013, at his home in Fargo.
Jack Charles Toy was born January 18, 1934 to Ralph and Martha (Anderson) Toy in Eau Claire, WI. He graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School in 1952, and attended the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire for one year before being drafted into the US Navy in 1956. He was honorably discharged on March 7, 1962.
Jack married Joanne Shea in Eau Claire in 1960. He managed the Super Valu store in Sparta, WI, and in 1962, they moved to Hopkins, MN to manage a private grocery store. In 1963, he went into training for a Field Rep position with Super Valu. They moved to West Fargo, ND that year as a field man for SV. After several years he moved into the office and was managing the produce department. In 1973, he became manager of the Night Warehouse and Transportation Department. In 1975 they moved to Bismarck as the Warehouse & Transportation Manager. In 1978, they moved to Naperville, IL, and in 1980 he became the Division Manager of the Plainfield Division for Jewel Grocery Co. By 1982 he was the 2nd in command of the Billings and Great Falls division for SV. They moved to Fargo in 1983 where Jack was Division President. He retired in February 1996.
Jack is survived by his wife, Joanne; four children, Steve Toy, Hilliard, OH; Paul (Linda) Toy, Waterford, WI; Rebecca (James) Parus, Rockford, IL; Jeff (Anne) Toy, Gilbert, AZ; eleven grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers-in-law; one sister-in-law; and one granddaughter.
A private family gathering is being held at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo.
