Ila Mae Thorstad

Ila Mae Thorstad, 85, of Moorhead, MN, died Wednesday, May 25, 2011, at Sanford Health, Fargo, ND. Ila Mae Christensen was born October 4, 1925 in Fargo, ND to Axel and Sadie (Fedje) Christensen. She graduated from Fargo Central High School. She married Milton Thorstad on November 29, 1947, in Fargo. Ila worked for Nabisco Company until their children were born, at which point she stayed at home to raise them. Ila later worked for Fargo Clinic for sixteen years as a receptionist, retiring in 1986. She was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Moorhead. She was a happy and caring person who loved to travel with Milt in their later years. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, especially holding them when they were babies. Ila is survived by her daughters, LaVaye (Patrick) Samek, Moorhead, MN, and Cheryl Lynn, Oakdale, MN; brother, Verne (Joan) Christensen, Minnetonka, MN; ten grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton, parents, and brother, Paul.
