Helen V. Olson

Helen Olson, 94, of Fargo, ND, died Tuesday, June 12, 2012, at her home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Helen Vera Schmidt was born August 16, 1917, in Wheaton, Minnesota, daughter of Frank and Alvina (Berneking) Schmidt. She attended school at Mohall, North Dakota. After high school, she graduated from Miller Vocational School in Minneapolis, in 1938. She worked as a nanny and a secretary in Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota.

Helen married Paul Olson on May 28, 1948, in Wheaton, Minnesota. They moved to Fargo.

Helen’s grandchildren were the joy of her life. She loved visiting with family and friends, playing cards, gardening and baking. Her homemade chocolate cake and frosting was the best.

Helen is survived by her sons, Jack (Linda) Olson, Fargo, ND; and Jim Olson, Green Bay, WI; two grandchildren, Scott and Karen; and a sister, Dora Tobeck, Wheaton, MN.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul, in 2008; and siblings, Elmer, Robert, Herbert and Lillian.

Memorial Service: Friday, June 15, 2012, at 2:00 PM, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND.

Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the church.

Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo, ND.
