Hazel Anderson

Hazel Mae Anderson, 97, died Friday December 3, 2010, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home, Sauk Rapids, MN. She was born to Warren and Alma Deuterman, February 8, 1913 in Huron, SD. She attended school in Comstock, MN and graduated Moorhead State University with a teaching degree in 1934. Hazel married Bennie C. Andeson in 1935 in Comstock, MN. The Andersons lived in Richmond, CA., during WW II, returned to Fargo and relocated to Nome, ND, where they ran a variety store. They owned and operated West Side Grocery together in Fargo until 1961. She also worked a number of years at North Dakota State University until retiring in 1974. A lifetime member of First Lutheran Church, Fargo, she taught Sunday school, was a member of Ladie’s Circle, an accomplished artist and painter, loved playing piano and organ. Hazel is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bennie; brothers, Robert W. Deuterman and Dewey Hanson. She is survived by daughter, Gail L. Brovold, Sauk Rapids, MN; son, Bruce C. Anderson, Winston-Salem, NC; grandson, Randall Brovold, Fargo; granddaughter, Brenda Burke and husband, Jason, Sauk Rapids, MN; great-grandson, Drew Brovold, Fargo; granddaughters, Sydney and Allison Burk of Sauk Rapids, MN; cousins; nieces and nephews. Funeral: Thursday, December 9, 2010, 10:00 AM at First Lutheran Chapel, Fargo, ND. Rev. Dale Vitalis officiating. Visitation: Wednesday, December 8, 2010 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, followed by a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM. Family and friends are invited to Fellowship Hall following the service. Burial: Lower Red River Cemetery, Wild Rice, ND.
