Harold Lee (Vortice) Trotter-Payne, aged 76, passed away in Fargo, ND on February 29, 2024. He was born to Aleta Jackson and raised in Gary, Indiana. Harold attended Froebel High School in Gary. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy, including several years in Vietnam.

He was united in marriage to Darnelle Bradley on November 17, 1976 in St. Paul, MN. They were long-time residents of Minneapolis, MN, and after retirement, moved to Des Moines, IA. In 2022, they moved to Fargo, ND. Harold worked for U.S. Steel in Gary, then Honeywell in Minneapolis. He loved movies and music and was always eager to share his wide array of knowledge with others.

Harold is survived by his wife, Darnelle Trotter, Fargo, ND; sons, Leon Burnette, Minneapolis, MN, Barry (Meg) Bradley, Moorhead, MN, Terrell (Carlena) Trotter, Des Moines, IA; daughters, Mia Kimble, Melissa Vortice, Indianapolis IN, Taurus Chambers, Kapree Trotter, Fargo, ND; twenty-four grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Aleta (Walter) Jackson; father, Marion Vortice; and brother, Gerald Vortice.

His memory will be cherished by all who knew him.
