Harold “Butch” Honl was born March 25, 1936, to Joseph and Anna (Hejtmanek) Honl near Lidgerwood, ND. He graduated from Lidgerwood High School in 1954. He enlisted in the US Army in 1955, and served 10 years stateside and overseas. On July 2, 1959, he married Janice Strege in Lidgerwood, ND. They moved to Fargo in 1967. Harold graduated from Interstate Business College and was employed by the US Postal Service, retiring in 1991. His wife, Janice, died on November 19, 2001. Harold enjoyed camping, fishing, music, playing cards and sports, but most of all, spending time with his family. He will be dearly missed. Harold passed away peacefully at Rosewood on Broadway on Tuesday, February 5, 2008, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his children, Wendy (Bob) Royal, Beaver Dam, WI; Paul (Beth) Honl and Jim (Susan) Honl, Fargo ND; his grandchildren, Janna (Scott Christopherson) Jacobsen, Verona, ND; Ryan (Alisa) Jacobsen, Woodstock, GA; Emily Honl; Ashley and Jacob Honl; great-grandchildren, Zackery and Zander Christopherson and Awnley Jacobsen; brothers, LaVerne (Glenda) Honl, Lidgerwood, ND; ElRoy (Jeannie) Honl, Euu Claire, WI; sisters, Junette (Donald) Willprecht, Wahpeton, ND; Barbara (Roger) Buske), North Branch, MN; Betty Honl, Minneapolis, MN; Connie (David) Hansen, Duluth, MN; sisters-in-law, Norma Honl, Lidgerwood, ND and Maggie Honl, Moorhead, MN; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; and brothers, Andy and Donald.
