Glenn Charles Trautman, 75, of Fargo, ND, passed away in his home in July, 2026.
Glenn Trautman was born to Frieda (Kauk) and Edgar Trautman July 15th, 1951 in Eureka, SD. He was baptized at the Artas Reformed Church. Shortly after, the family moved to West Fargo, ND for a few years. It was there his sister, Marilyn, was born. In 1957, Edgar and Frieda moved their family to the Trautmann Family Homestead farm east of Artas, SD.
Glenn attended country school through the 5th grade, then transfered to Zeeland Public School where he graduated in 1969.
After graduation, Glenn worked on the family farm, as well as a hired hand for many of his neighbors, and as a wrangler and ringman at many of the livestock sale barns around the Eureka, SD area. In 1977, he moved to Fargo, ND and found employment in the Agricultural Manufacturing industry as an assembler and then welder.
In the spring of 1978, Glenn started living a "family life" with his wife Bernice and her children Alisha, Sheldon, Carlita, and John (later adopting the youngest, John.) Together, they added another child to their family, Glenn II, in 1981. Glenn and Bernice were later divorced.
With the difficult farm economy of the early 1980's, Glenn found it necessary to change occupations and began working at Palisar Furniture. He worked at their Fargo plant until its closing in 1995. He was fortunate to find immediate employment with Integrity/Marvin Windows as they assumed the lease of the Palisar building. He worked there several years. He then went back to furniture and was employed with Solid Comfort from 2000 until around 2008. From 2008 until his retirement in 2018 he worked for Forum Communications in the Print shop. He also worked in his spare time as a Ringman for his son at Trautman Family Auction Service, where he shared his knowledge, expertise, and love of the auction profession with his family. He also enjoyed the staff and residents while volunteering at the Meadows on University.
Glenn had a zeal for fun and love for parties. This lead to a life long addiction to alcohol. In January of 2002, to the answered prayers of many, Glenn started his path to sobriety and recovery. That was a very important turn in his life. His AA groups and friends were instrumental in his many years of sobriety.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Frieda, and his sister and Brother-in-Law Marilyn and Charles Neuharth.
Glenn is Survived by his step children: Alisha Ankers (Cody Larkin) of Argusville, ND; Sheldon Kauk (Marsha) of Bismarck, ND; Carlita Dietz (Jay) of Mapleton, ND; and his sons John Trautman of Fargo, ND and Glenn Trautman II (Daisy) of Sabin, MN. He is also survived by his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In Lieu of gifts, flowers, and memorials, the family requests that you take time to connect and reconnect with loved ones in your life.
