Obituary

Glenn Gene Goehring

March 21, 1942 - November 5, 2026

Glenn Gene Goehring, 84, of Fargo, North Dakota, passed away on November 5, 2026, at Sanford Hospital in Fargo. Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2026, from 1 PM to 2 PM followed by his 2 PM Memorial Service at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo.

Glenn was born on March 21, 1942, in Fredonia, North Dakota, to Ephraim and Stella Goehring. He married Dorothy Buerkle in 1960, and they welcomed daughter, Candace. In 1975, Glenn married Nan Welch, and together they welcomed daughter, Deborah.

Throughout his life, Glenn was known for his strong work ethic, resourcefulness, and willingness to lend a helping hand. He worked in a gold mine in Lead, South Dakota, at the Kulm and West Fargo elevators, and for ITT Life Insurance. He later owned and operated Big G Services, providing landscaping and snow removal.

Affectionately known as "Big G," Glenn was the guy everyone called when something needed fixing. A real-life MacGyver, he could repair anything from lawnmowers and snowblowers to household appliances. He believed everything had a purpose, and no scrap of wood, spare bolt, or useful part should ever go to waste. He could spot a perfectly good tarp strap along the highway from a mile away-and you could bet he was stopping to pick it up.

Glenn loved adventure and the outdoors. Whether riding his Harley-Davidson to Sturgis, snowmobiling, exploring on ATVs, boating, or ice fishing, he never lost his playful spirit. An avid fisherman, he especially enjoyed walleye fishing in Canada and halibut fishing in Alaska, where he once landed an impressive 109-pound halibut.

Above all, Glenn treasured his family, especially his grandchildren. Family vacations were never complete without Glenn arriving with everything imaginable-the boat, water toys, skis, grills, tools, and anything else someone might need. He found joy in making sure everyone was cared for and having a good time.

Glenn had big hands, a big heart, and a way of making those around him feel safe, loved, and protected. He will be remembered for his ingenuity, generosity, adventurous spirit, and the countless ways he showed his love through his actions.

Glenn is survived by his wife, Nan; daughters, Candace Herbel and Deborah (Seth) Sauvageau; grandchildren, Drew Renz, Lacey Renz, Saige Herbel, Noah Sauvageau, and Keaton Sauvageau; eight great-grandchildren; and brother, Dell Goehring of Sioux City, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ephraim and Stella Goehring; brother, Curtiss Goehring; and stepson, M. Pete Welch.
