Faye Roscoe, 67, of Glyndon, MN, died Wednesday, May 6, 2009, at her home under the care of her family and Hospice of the Red River Valley. Faye Marie Gratton was born May 28, 1941, to John and Lucille (Carrier) Gratton in Langdon, North Dakota. She was raised on a farm near Osnabrock, North Dakota, until school age. Due to the condition of the roads during the winter at that time, they moved to Milton, North Dakota. She attended high school in Crookston, Minnesota, and graduated from St. Joseph’s in 1958. On December 28, 1971, Faye married John H. Roscoe. Faye and John had two children, Darcy and John. Family was extremely important to Faye and you were family no matter how distantly related you were. Faye was born an only child, but had cousins that she thought of as brothers and sisters, including Larry, Joe, Linda, Donna, Ronnie, Paul and Debbie Gratton. Faye kept track of cousins, aunts and uncles and made a family tree and calendar every few years to send out to the whole family. Faye and John lived in several different areas because of John’s job as a teacher and school administrator, including Milton, Anamoose, Zeeland, Calvin and Maddock, North Dakota, as well as Iroquois, South Dakota. Faye worked different jobs, most recently at Minnesota Relay in Moorhead. Faye and John moved to Glyndon, Minnesota, after John retired and shared a rural farmstead with Darcy and her family. Faye loved to travel and enjoyed taking her grandsons on little trips to explore different areas and spend time with them. Faye loved to visit her son, John, and his family in Nevada. She like baking cookies with her granddaughter, Alexis, shopping with her and cherished the time they had together. This past March, John took Faye on a ride on his new Harley Davidson motorcycle and they really enjoyed it. Faye loved crafts and dove in whole-heartedly whenever she started a new craft. She knitted many beautiful afghans for family members and friends. Faye also loved flower gardens and spent many hours working on her flower beds. She liked to take care of people and loved to entertain. Faye was known for her Christmas cookie plate gifts. Some years, she made over 12 different kinds of cookies and up to 12 dozen of each kind. Faye is preceded in death by her husband, John; her parents, John and Lucille; her brother, Terry Jon; and other loved ones. She leaves behind her daughter Darcy (Scotty) Uhrich; Glyndon, MN; her son, John (Karen) Roscoe, Sparks, NV; and her grandchildren, Tyrel, Ian and Alexis; her aunt, Francis Carrier, Walhalla, ND; her aunt, Marlene Binde, Williston, ND; many cousins and other loved ones.
