Everett Ervin Brust

March 5, 1930 — April 23, 2018

Everett Ervin Brust was born in Fargo, ND, March 5, 1930, to Selma and Otto Brust. While in high school he was employed at Epko Film Services as a darkroom technician. Everett joined the North Dakota Air National Guard in October 1947. Everett graduated from Fargo Central High School in 1948. After graduation, he went to the Air Force Photo School at Lowry AFB in Denver, CO.

Upon his graduation from Lowry, he accepted the position with the NDANG as the Photo Lab Chief. He was called to active duty April 1, 1951, with the “Happy Hooligans” during the Korean Conflict for 21 months. While on active duty, he was stationed at Moody AFB in Valdosta, GA, and George AFB in Victorville, CA. Upon release from active duty, he returned to Fargo and continued his career with the NDANG. Everett retired in April 1987 after 40 years of service with the “Happy Hooligans.”

Everett married Dorothy Caverly July 9, 1950, in Carrington, ND. They made their home in North Fargo. They had two children, a son, Kim, and a daughter, Linda.

Everett and Dorothy enjoyed skiing and did extensive traveling with Kim and Linda. They also had four grandchildren and greatly enjoyed attending the many functions in which they participated.

Everett was a member of the Elks, American Legion, Professional Photographers of America and the North Dakota Professional Photographers. He was a well-known Fargo photographer in a variety of areas including weddings, architecture, aerials and legal photography.

He was an active member of Faith United Methodist Church.

Everett was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Selma Brust.

Everett is survived by his wife, Dorothy; his children: Kim (Constance) Brust, Fargo; Linda (David) Roos, Littleton, CO; four grandchildren: Erin (Matthew) Brust, Seattle, WA; Mara (Robert) Brust, Minneapolis, MN; Jordan (Pamela) Roos, Denver, CO; Tracy (Andy) Lynn, Kansas City, MO; and one great-grandchild, Marie, with a second due to arrive later this year.

Memorials and donations collected will go to a public memorial to honor Everett.
