Ethel Rahn

Ethel Evelyn Rahn, 81, of Fargo, died Friday, January 18, 2008 at Rosewood on Broadway in Fargo, ND, where she had been a resident since December of 2004. Ethel Mayfield was born January 4, 1927 in Frazee, MN to James and Margaret (Maxwell) Mayfield. She was raised and educated in Frazee. She married Delvin Rahn in 1948 and to this union, three daughters were born. Ethel worked for the Veterans Administration Hospital in Fargo for 22 years, retiring in mid-1980. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother, always extending herself to the needs of her family. She was a member of the Moose Lodge Auxiliary. She enjoyed keeping busy and loved sewing, crafts, flowerbeds, gardening, and canning. Her plum jelly was always a welcomed treat. Ethel is survived by a sister, Elsie Sidback, Kenai, AK; three daughters, Janet “Jan” (Stacy) Marsh, Moorhead, MN; Karen (Jim) Spoerl, Lamoure, ND; and Brenda (Roger) Teegarden, Fargo, ND; five grandchildren, Troy, Shay, Katelin, Lindsey, and Megan; and two great-grandchildren, Madison and Karis. She was preceded in death by her husband Delvin; grandson Joey Christensen; sisters, Beatrice Kyolsing, Eleanor Wagen, Georgia Berger, Marion Meyer; brothers, Tommy, James, and David Mayfield. The family expresses their sincere thanks to the staff of Rosewood on Broadway and Hospice of the Red River Valley for their loving kindness and care that they provided during this difficult time. Ethel will be deeply missed. Memorial Service: 2:00PM Saturday, January 26, 2008 at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, ND. Visitation: One hour prior to the memorial service.
