Erna Marie Swisher, 89, died December 27, 2009 at the Elim Home. Erna was born in Ross Township, MN to Edward and Marie Erickson. She graduated from Roseau High School, Roseau, MN and attended Bemidji Business College, Bemidji, MN. She worked for IBM in Washington, DC in World War II where she married Herold A. Swisher on September 13, 1942. The couple moved to Fargo in 1961. In 1973, Erna started work for Moorhead State College in Academic Affairs and Continuing Education. She retired in 1987 and said that her work at MSC was the joy of her life, full of many great friends and rewards. She is survived by her son Harold Eric Swisher; daughter Allyson Marie Hustel; her sisters, Myrtle (Earl) Chapin and Mildred (Dr. Leland) Hughes. She is preceded in death by her husband, Herold; brothers, Selvin, Clarence and Edgar Erickson and her sister, Constance Erickson. Burial: Greenwood Cemetery, Bemidji at a later date.
