Eric “Rick” Hofstrand was born April 9, 1951 in Fargo, ND to Marvin and Marlys (Camrud) Hofstrand. He grew up in Fargo and graduated from Fargo South in 1969. While at Fargo South, he excelled at Track. He is a record holding pole vaulter at Central High and Fargo South. He won the State of North Dakota high school pole vault championship three years in a row. Rick attended NDSU on a track scholarship and was a proud member of Sigma Chi Fraternity.
Rick married Nancy Stenhjem on July 5, 1985 in Audubon, MN. Rick worked in the construction industry including Twin City Construction and Ryland Construction. He worked in building maintenance for Moorhead Public Schools and Lake Park/Audubon, MN Public Schools.
Rick enjoyed sports, especially hockey and track. He also enjoyed living at the lake, boating, fishing, golfing, the Denver Broncos and the NDSU Bison. “Go Bison!”
Rick died at his home on Leaf Lake, rural Lake Park, MN on March 14, 2016.
Rick is survived by his wife, Nancy, Lake Park, MN; mother, Marlys Hofstrand, Fargo, ND; brother, Craig (Suzi) Hofstrand, DeLand, FL; sister, Connie (Steve) Catron, Clovis, CA and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin.
