Eloise Leazer Johnson, 91, of Fargo, ND passed away peacefully on December 20, 2015 at Crosshaven (Riverview Place), Fargo, ND.
Eloise was born June 30, 1924 in Sioux City, IA to George and Eleanor Leazer. She graduated from Lancaster High School (Minn), and attended UND in Grand Forks, North Dakota where she was a member of the Pi Beta Phi Sorority. From there she entered Interstate Business College in Fargo.
She married Norris Johnson on March 4, 1944 and they were together until his death in 1986. They were the proud parents of two daughters, and except for a brief period in the 50’s, raised their children in Fargo. Her family was most important to her, and her life was guided by their activities. An extension of her love included caring for foster children, and knitting afghans to give to family and friends.
Eloise worked for Midnight Express, the Veterans Administration, and Pioneer Mutual Life Insurance Company where she was employed until retirement after 28 years.
On December 15, 1991, she married Verlin (Doc) Johnson. Both were avid NDSU Bison fans who rarely missed a home game and travelled to NDSU related activities country wide. Additionally, they made sure their travels included visits to family and friends as often as possible.
Eloise was very active in her church and freely gave of her time and talents by volunteering in the office, fundraising, and preparing monthly newsletters. She loved to make doll houses and donated them to family, friends, charitable organizations, deserving children, and to people she just met in the community. It is estimated that she built and gave away over 400 doll houses.
Eloise is survived by daughters, Michelle (Greg) Kindle, Janeen (Gene) Ringuette; her brother, William (Billy) Leazer; 7 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.
While Eloise lived a full life and was not affected by cancer, many of her family have been. Please note that In lieu of flowers you are welcome to contribute to the American Cancer Society in her name.
