Mr. Douglas Michael Kenyon, age 78, of Grandin, ND, passed away peacefully Tuesday afternoon, May 20, 2025 at Sanford Medical Center, surrounded by his family. He was born December 10, 1946 in Detroit, MI, the son of the late Doug and Edith Kenyon.
Doug was preceded in death by sisters, Lynne Senkowski and Susan Marron.
Doug is survived by his wife, Mary Jo Kenyon; his two daughters, Shannon (Adam) Andrews, Casey (Ryan) Gagnier; his grandchildren, Rachael Andrews, Jessica (Kyle) Fenton and Benjamin Gagnier; his siblings, Judy (the late Ernie) McLaughlin, Michael (Cindy) Kenyon, Dennis Kenyon, Nancy (Robert) Jensen.
Doug dedicated his career to public service in the Department of Veteran Affairs, ultimately as the Medical Director in Fargo. It was in North Dakota that Doug and Mary Jo turned their Grandin farmhouse into a place where they could create a sanctuary for wildlife and nature.
Doug had a sharp and curious mind and enjoyed reading and engaging in conversations about sports, politics, and trivia. He had a lifelong love of puzzles and was an avid viewer of golf, baseball, and many other sports. He supported the Detroit Lions through thick and thin and from childhood was a fan of Detroit Tigers legend Al Kaline. Those who knew him will remember his intelligence, wit, and kindness.
