Dorothy M. Grothe, 98, of Fargo, ND, died Tuesday, March 23, 2010, at Elim Care Center, Fargo. Dorothy Mabelle Chard was born August 14, 1911, at Rolla, North Dakota, daughter of Fredrick and Mabelle (Kyle) Chard. She graduated from Fargo Central High School. Dorothy attended North Dakota State University, Fargo, with a major in music. Dorothy married Herman J. Grothe January 21, 1933, in Fargo. Dorothy worked as a homemaker while raising her two children. She is survived by her sons, Paul (Zohre) Grothe, Tiburon, CA; and Robert (Valene) Grothe, Rochert, MN; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Herman. The family wants to thank all of Dorothy’s caregivers and many dear friends from the Waterford and Elim Care Center. Memorials are preferred to Sisters of Presentation, Fargo. Funeral Service: Friday, March 26, 2010, at 10:00 AM, at Gethsemane Episcopal Cathedral, Fargo, ND. Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the church. Entombment: Riverside Mausoleum, Fargo, ND.
