Donna Meckler, 74, West Fargo, ND, died Friday, December 2, 2016 at her home.

Donna Marie Snider was born August 12, 1942 in Somerset, PA, to William and Retta (Steorts) Snider. She grew up in Smithers, WV, and graduated from Montgomery High School in 1961 and attended West Virginia Tech. She moved to Washington, D.C. and worked at the Capitol where she met Thomas Meckler.

In November 1970, Donna married Thomas in Fargo, ND. Donna and Thomas adopted Brian Meckler on January 16, 1976. Donna worked in West Fargo for the Cass County Soil Conservation until 1994 when she moved to Alabama for a year. She returned to Fargo and worked for State Farm Insurance and retired from Wallwork Truck Center in 2016.

Donna enjoyed watching football and cheering for North Dakota State University and West Virginia University. She was a long time member with Mecca Chapter No. 5, OES in Fargo and Kanawha Chapter No. 38, OES, Montgomery, WV where her two sisters are presently affiliated. She was a regular at Flame of Faith Methodist Church, and was a former member of Messiah Lutheran Church. She loved spending time with animals including her pet dogs and cats. She enjoyed growing flowers and collecting items with cardinals on them.

Donna is survived by her son, Brian (Tracy) Meckler, Fargo; and sisters, Patricia (James) Dempsey, Smithers, WV, and Judith Davis, Bradenton, FL. She was preceded in death by Thomas and her parents, William and Retta.

Memorials are preferred to American Heart Association or American Cancer Society.
