Donald Sears was born Dec. 16, 1946 in Sharon, ND to parents Roy and Cornelia Sears. Don grew up in Petersburg, ND graduating from Petersburg School in 1965. After school, he went on to the Vietnam War from 1965-1968. After discharge he made his home in Grand Forks and eventually Fargo, ND.
Don graduated from UND in 1982 with an Accounting degree, then finished his Business degree at Moorhead State University.
He was married to Cindy in 1968 with Brian being born in 1970. He married Lori in 1980 and had 3 children, Greg, Bob and Katy.
Don had many passions and the gift of conversation and wit; he could engage anyone with a good story.
He loved animals, especially dogs, although his intentions were to train dogs, they ultimately would train him to get more treats. His greatest passion was golf. He was the happiest on a golf course. Nothing brought him more pleasure and joy than sharing stories of his golf accolades.
Don's greatest accomplishment and what brought him the most joy were his children.
Don is survived by his children, Brian, Robert (Tori) and Katy Sears, all of Fargo; grandchildren, Kylie and Liam; sisters, Judy (Gene) Rose and Corrine Iverson, both of Alexandria, MN.
He is preceded in death by his son, Gregory Sears; parents, Roy and Cornelia Sears and his sister, Jeannie Haugen.
A special thanks to the caregivers at Bethany, Red River Valley Hospice, and to his friend that was truly there to the end, Anthony.
Don passed away on April 27, 2025 after a long chronic illness. His final days were marked with dignity, gentleness and the presence of loved ones.
