Donald Hanson, 61, of Fargo, ND, died Monday, April 11, 2011, at Essentia Health, Fargo. Donald Roy Hanson was born July 30, 1949, in Fargo, North Dakota, son of Roy and Delores (Hanson) Hanson. Don went to school in Fargo and graduated from Fargo South High School in 1968. He graduated from NDSU in 1972 with a Bachelor of Science degree. After college, Don served in the Air National Guard for several years. Don worked for Hanson-Schmidt Construction pouring foundations and building houses. Don’s most important job was as caregiver to his Mom and Dad, which he did for many years. He loved woodworking and building with his hands. He also enjoyed dogs, hunting, shooting, cars and spending time at the lake. Don is survived by his brother, Wayne Hanson, Fargo, ND; and sister, Linda (Allan) Woods, Gardner, ND; and nieces and nephews, Joshua Woods; Jessica (James) Richards; and Rebecca (Dustin) Pattengale; several cousins; and his dog, Ellie, who was very special to him. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Lyle Hanson. Funeral Service: Saturday, April 16, 2011, at 3:00 PM, at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo. Visitation: One hour prior to the service. Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo (at a later date)
