Donald E. Busch, a resident of Fargo, ND, passed away at Essentia Health in Fargo on June 10th, 2012.
Don was born in Algoma, WI, to Erich and Estelle Busch on July 31st, 1930. He was raised in North Dakota, attending schools in Sentinel Butte, New Salem, and graduated from Beach High School in 1948. He attended North Dakota State University where he graduated with a teaching degree and later completed a master’s degree in Education. He received a commission as an Army officer through ROTC, with follow-on assignments in Fort Sill Oklahoma, Fort Leonard Wood Missouri, and a tour in Korea.
He married the former Mavis Berg from Minnewaukan, ND, in 1954 and they raised five children. After his military service, Don taught high school sciences in Granville, ND and Wibaux, MT. He later became the school principal, then superintendent in Lakota, ND for 16 years before retiring from the North Dakota school system after 25 years. He was active in the Elks and Lions Club.
Don is survived by his five children, Steve (Norma) Busch, Henderson, NV; Jeff (Kathy) Busch, Lovington, NM; Mike (Martha) Busch, Bentonville AR; Lisa (Dale) Tweten, Fargo, ND; Teri (Ron) Beyer, Fargo, ND; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; two sisters, Mickey (Tony) Wetsch from Killdeer, ND, and Mildred Willis from Salinas, CA; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass: Holy Cross Catholic Church in West Fargo, ND, on Friday June 15th, at 9:00 AM.
Visitation: One half hour prior to the service at the church.
Burial: Friday, 3:00 PM at St. Peter’s Cemetery, Minnewaukan, ND, beside his wife, Mavis.
