Dolores Jean (Fuhrman) Bullis, age 90, of Fargo, ND, died peacefully on December 6, 2018 at her home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. Dolores was born in Bismarck, ND on July 14, 1928 to Theodore & Eva (Brose) Fuhrman. Eva died shortly after giving birth and Marie Unruh became her beloved mother in the fall of 1930.
Dolores graduated from Robinson High School; Valley City State College; and began a teaching career in Bismarck. On September 7, 1952 she married Harold Owen Bullis and together they raised 4 children – Rebecca, John, James & Mark. During their marriage Hal & Dolores resided in Washington, DC; Dallas, TX; Wahpeton & Fargo, ND.
Family and friends were the focus of Dolores’ life. She was known for her unending hospitality – good conversation and fresh baked goods were always available. She delighted in her grandchildren and was affectionately known as “Grandma B”. No birthday was ever without a gift and favorite cake. Her summers at Lake Lida were especially treasured. She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church & Dorcas Circle, P.E.O., and an active community volunteer spending many hours volunteering at Essentia Health in Fargo.
Dolores is survived by three siblings – Mrs. Arlene Morton, Houston, TX; Duane Fuhrman, Jacksonville, AR and Mrs. Janice (Jim) Lahman, Bismarck, ND; three children – daughter Rebecca (Stephen) Holand; two sons, John (Kim) Bullis & James (Kristen) Bullis; six grandchildren – Brittany Bullis (Geoff) Billingsley; Reid Holand; Michael Bullis; Ian Bullis; Katherine Bullis & Claire Bullis; two great-grandsons – Jack & Colton Billingsley; and a number of loving relatives and close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Harold O. Bullis and son, Mark E. Bullis.
A Service celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 on Monday, December 10, 2018, at Calvary United Methodist Church, 4575 45th St S, Fargo, ND 58104.
