Diana Lee Mcilnay

Diana Lee (Veidt) McIlnay, 69, of Fargo, ND, formerly of Stanton, ND, passed away on Thursday, April 6, 2017, at her home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. Diana was born on Sept. 19, 1947, in Underwood, ND, to Edward and Mathilda (Holwagner) Veidt. Diana was raised by her mother and step-father, Paulus Piatz, in Stanton, ND, where she graduated high school.

On Sept 3, 1971, Diana married Jeffrey Lee McIlnay in Rolla, MO. Diana and Jeff traveled to and lived in many places while Jeff was in the US Army, after which they made their home in Stanton, ND, where they raised their children. Once their children were grown, they moved to Mandan, ND, and then to Fargo, ND, upon retirement.

Diana’s greatest happiness was her family. She loved spending time with them and also enjoyed researching her family’s genealogy. She was an avid reader and an eager game player.

She is survived by her husband, Jeffrey McIlnay of Fargo, ND; their 3 children, Stephen McIlnay of Denver, CO; Erica (Mark) Usselman of Fargo, ND; Kieth (Shawna) McIlnay of Gillette, WY; and 6 grandchildren, Grant (Ariel) Hermanson; David Hermanson; Natasha Usselman; Marshall Usselman; Lillian McIlnay; and Alexa McIlnay.

Diana was preceded in death by her parents.
