Dennis lost his lengthy battle with Alzheimer's and stroke complication on October 1, 2025, while residing at Bethany on University's Memory Care Unit in Fargo, ND.
Dennis was born on March 28, 1941, to Clarence and Martha Anderson and was raised in Virginia, MN. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1959. Dennis loved spending time at the lake with family and friends, fishing, and having some "adult" beverages as well as driving his cars all over backroads.
On July 13, 1963, he married Peg (Margaret) Blonigen. They met on a blind date and most recently celebrated their 62nd anniversary. They had two children together and many dogs. If he wasn't doing yard work and winning "Yard of the Week," or taking his dogs on a bike ride with them sitting in a box on the back of his bike that he built them, he was sitting on the deck and reading books. He was an avid reader and could finish a book in a day. He also enjoyed camping with his family.
There were many vacations over the years with all the family or just Dennis and Peg. They took their children to Valleyfair and to Medora, ND, many summers. After the children were grown, they began traveling alone. They have traveled to Mexico numerous times and have been overseas to Paris and Rome as well as many places within the United States, either driving to places on their own, or the many tour bus trips that they took. They also took a few cruises to places they had always wanted to see together. In the basement of their home in MN, they had a large world map that had pins showing all the different places they vacationed together.
He began his retail career in his early teens and continued until his retirement in 2007. While working for various big box retailers to hometown stores, he was transferred to numerous cities/states including MN, ND, and IL. He was also a co-owner of a liquor store in Jamestown, ND. After a long day at work, Dennis would come home and have caramel rolls and beer, compliments of his mother-in-law. She didn't think they would taste good together and he did, so it became a joke between the two of them every time she would make them. Which of them was right? Both if you were to ask them.
Survivors include his wife, Peg of West Fargo, ND; son, Dwayne of Wahpeton, ND; and daughter, Shari (Kent) Fuhrman of Fargo, ND; grandson, Christopher Skeldum of Fargo, ND; sister, Susan McCain of Pewaukee, WI; and nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Martha Anderson; in-laws, Lawerence (Georgie) Blonigen, Mary (Irving) Loftus; brother and sister-in-law, Dale and Dorothy Anderson; brother-in-law, David McCain; and brother-in-law, Jerry Blonigen.
There will be a private family viewing and in lieu of any flower donations the family requests donations to the Red River Human Services Foundation, 701 6th St S, Wahpeton, ND 58075.
