Delores Elaine Nelson

Delores Nelson, 87, of Fargo, ND, died Saturday, January 9, 2016 at Evergreen Assisted Living in Moorhead, MN.

Delores Elaine Johnson was born June 7, 1928 to Raymond and Clara (Skyberg) Johnson in Hillsboro, ND.

She was raised in Hillsboro, and after graduating high school moved to Fargo, ND and attended Interstate Business College. On September 9, 1950 she married Aldean C. Nelson, and they made their home in Fargo. In 1979 Aldean died unexpectedly, after which she began a 24 year long career at Agassiz Junior High School in Fargo working in the kitchen.

Delores was an avid sewer and made many quilts. She was active in the VFW Auxiliary and also volunteered for many years at the VA Hospital.

Delores is survived by her three children, Rick (Margy) Nelson, West Fargo, ND; Robert (Susan) Nelson, York, PA; Patty (Michael) Blonquist, Las Vegas, NV; grandchildren, Matthew (Westie) Nelson, Lee (Nancy) Nelson, Kate (Chad) Pivek, Sarah Nelson, Chuck (Kelly) Nelson, Wyatt Blonquist; eight great-grandchildren; sister, JoAnn Worcester.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Aldean; brother, Raymond “Bud” Johnson; and granddaughter, Laura Nelson McShane.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
