Dawn Ostendorf

Dawn Ostendorf, 57, of Moorhead, MN, died Monday, July 19, 2010, at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo. Dawn Alice Groethe was born July 25, 1952, at Fergus Falls, Minnesota, to Paul and Fern (Tollefson) Groethe. She grew up in Long Prairie, Minnesota, and graduated from high school. Dawn graduated from Fergus Falls Community College in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, with a degree in Medical Terminology. Dawn married Leo Ostendorf February 2, 1971, at Sisseton, South Dakota. They lived in Fergus Falls where she worked at Lake Region Hospital. They moved to Fargo-Moorhead in 1975. Dawn worked for the Fercho Eye Clinic as office manager for over 20 years. She retired in 1994 for medical reasons. Dawn never gave up in her struggles in life and her surgeries. She had an ability to continue regardless of her pain. Dawn enjoyed spending time at the lake with family and friends, fishing, floating on an air mattress and pontoon rides. She enjoyed writing and reading books, including mysteries and the Bible. She was a devout Christian and enjoyed spending time with her church family. Dawn is survived by her husband, Leo, Moorhead, MN; parents, Paul Groethe, Vergas, MN, and Fern Groethe, St. Cloud, MN; her two sons, Chad, Fargo, ND and Nate (Vickie), Moorhead, MN; three brothers, Mitch Groethe, Perham, MN; Craig (Vicky) Groethe, St. Cloud, MN; Kent (Kay) Groethe, Dodge City, KS; and her sister, Pam Groethe, Sauk Rapids, MN.
