David A. Heck, 69 of Fargo, died Friday, April 22, 2016 at the Fargo V.A. Medical Center.
David Arlen Heck was born January 31, 1947 at Langdon, ND, to parents Charles and Florence (Herriot) Heck. He attended Hay Township III Grade School and Osnabrock Public School, graduating in 1965. David attended Hanson Mechanical Auto School in Fargo from 1969 - 1971.
David married Glenda Heller on February 20, 1976 in Moorhead, MN. He farmed with his father-in-law, Whilhelm Heller, for 16 years and for many years after that. David served in the US Marines from 1966 – 1969, including a tour in Vietnam. He also served with the Army National Guard in Moorhead from 1971 – 1975 and with the Air National Guard in Fargo from 1978 – 1992. David worked for Hector International Airport for 35 years.
David enjoyed fishing and hunting, and spending time with his family. He was a member of the VFW Club 7564 in West Fargo, along with the Post 297 Harwood American Legion. David and Glenda were members of Faith United Methodist Church in Fargo.
He is survived by his wife, Glenda of Fargo; eight brothers – Duane of Langdon, Selmer (Elaine) of Warren, James (Sharlene) of Bismarck, Carlton (Linda) of Walhalla, Richard (Barbara) of Bottineau, Larry (Elfie) of Seattle, Marvin (Beth) of Munich, and Leonard (Monica) of Langdon; four sisters – Marjorie Thompson of Langdon, Caroline (John) Knutson of Walhalla, Janice (Larry) Peterson of Langdon, and Connie Close of Langdon; 38 nieces and nephews and 64 great-nieces and nephews.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Florence; brother, Gordon; and nephews, Steven Heck and Clint Close and grand niece, Carri Jo Heck.
