Obituary

David James Anderson, 70, passed away on July 15, 2026 in his home. David was born May 9, 1956 in Karlstad, MN to Naomi and James Anderson. He attended high school at Midway High School and graduated from Park River High School. David started his military career in 1974 and served in Germany, Atlanta, El Paso, TX and Fort Hood, TX. He retired with 20 years of active duty.

While in Germany David married Carla Read and they had one daughter and a stepson. In December of 1993 David married Becky Eridkson and had been married 33 years at the time of his death.

David worked in the construction trade for several years after his retirement from the military, then began a 16-year career in long-haul trucking.

David enjoyed music and collecting an impressive collection of albums and CDs.

He was a member of the Amvets, the Amvets Riders group, and the Disabled American Vets. David owned several Harley and Honda motorcycles through the years. He and Becky made 4 trips to Sturgis and enjoyed riding for meals, and of course, ice cream.

David is survived by his wife, Becky; stepson, Brett (Davida) Erickson; stepdaughter, Kalah (Jesse) Brunsvig; son, Michael (Veronica) Anderson; daughter, Audrey Anderson; daughter, Megaan Anderson (Chuck Peace), siblings, Paul (Kim) Anderson, Mary Wicklund, Linda (James) Short, Marshall (Crystal Anderson, Brenda (Tim) Hoverson, Connie (Brian) Whyte; several nieces and nephews; and 12 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Naomi and Francis Chromy; his father, James; sister, Leona; brother, Mark; and nephew, Jeffrey.

Funeral services will be at First Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND on July 28, 2026 at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be one hour prior. Burial will be at the National Veterans Cemetery. Donations will be given to the Amvets Building Fund.
