Curtis Peterson

Curtis Peterson, 80, of Fargo, ND, passed away Thursday, April 16, 2009, at MeritCare Palliative Care, Fargo. Curtis Jerome Peterson was born March 2, 1929, to Robert and Josie (Hanson) Pederson in Mayville, North Dakota. Curtis graduated from Mayville High School and attended Mayville State College. Curtis married Marion Hanson in rural Mayville, North Dakota. Curtis spent years in banking and then insurance, both in Mayville and West Fargo, ND. He was honored by the North Dakota Professional Insurance Agents as Agent of the Year. He earned the Eagle Scout designation and was a Scout Master for several years. Curtis later married Val Gjellereit in Fargo, North Dakota. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and working in the garden, but most of all enjoyed spending time with his family. Curtis is survived by his wife, Val, Fargo, ND; children Dennis (Sheri) Peterson; Robert (Susan) Peterson; Cal (Sharon) Peterson, all of Mayville, ND; John (Paula) Peterson Portland, ND; Connie Bjerk, Grand Forks, ND; siblings, Alma Wayne, Corona, CA; Ordell Pederson, Hallock, MN; Beverly (Robert) Nees, Miles City, MT; Janice (Elroy) Lindaas, Mayville, ND; Arthur (Karoline) Pederson, Mora, MN; Leroy (Cleme) Pederson, San Marcos, TX; Clark (Mieko) Pederson, Saitama, Japan; Ida Mae (Craig) Rypkema, Bemidji, MN; 17 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, James; sister, Natalie Nankivel; and an infant granddaughter.
