Obituary

Bruce Ray Jorgensen, of Fargo, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 10, 2026, at the age of 71, following a courageous two-and-a-half-year battle with cancer. Throughout his illness, Bruce faced each day with strength, grace, and determination, surrounded by the love and support of his family and friends.

Bruce was born on March 15, 1955, in Fargo, ND, to Vernon and Evelyn Jorgensen. He graduated from Fargo North High School in 1973. After high school Bruce was a welder at Branick Manufacturing.

Following in his father’s footsteps, Bruce pursued a career of service to others by joining the Cass County Sheriff’s Reserves as a volunteer. After working in the corrections division, Bruce was hired in 1981 to a full-time position in patrol and earned the rank of sergeant.

Bruce enjoyed helping people throughout his law enforcement career and retired at the end of 2014.

During retirement Bruce enjoyed having coffee with friends, finished restoring his 1970 Challenger, enjoyed driving his dad’s Valiant, and worked part-time at Luther Ford.

Bruce was a member of the car club formerly known as the Red River Mopars, a current member of Valley Vintage Car Club and the North Dakota Street Rod Association.

Bruce is survived by his wife, Catherine; children, Jessica Jorgensen, Joshua (Heather) Jorgensen, and Charlie (Ashley) Jorgensen; grandchildren, Alexis, Lillian, Marena, and Theodore; sister, Elaine (Allen Steffes) Jorgensen; brother, Blaine (Carolyn) Jorgensen; aunt, Ada Jorgensen; brothers-in-law, Wyn (Sunny) Ray and Wayne Ray; and many cousins, nephews, nieces, and cherished friends.
