Bradley Kent "Brad" Nelson passed away peacefully in Fargo on November 25, 2025 at the age of 79. Brad was born on July 9, 1946 to parents Glen F. and Cecile Nelson. Brad lived a rich and memorable life defined by his humor, kindness, and the passions that brought him Joy.

A proud Marine Veteran, Brad served two hours of duty in Da Nang, Vietnam. He answered his nation's call with courage, loyalty, and unwavering dedication. His service in the Marine Corps remained one of the great honors of his life, and he carried that pride with him always.

Brad's interests were as wide-ranging as his circle of friends. He loved cars, western movies, hunting, and a good plate of Mexican food. During his high school years he spent countless hours collecting butterflies, a unique hobby that reflected his curiosity and appreciation for the natural world. He also became the family historian, preserving stories, names, and memories that kept generations connected.

Known for his warm personality and unforgettable sense of humor, Brad had a gift for making people feel comfortable and welcome. He treasured his family deeply and valued the many lifelong friendships he built along the way.

Brad worked hard throughout his life. He spent many years working for Firestone in Fargo, where he formed strong friendships and was well known for his dependable work ethic. He later continued his career in the trucking industry and the rock, sand, and gravel business. Whenever he worked he earned respect and friendship of those around him.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Penny Kotte, who passed in 2022. Brad is survived by his sister, Sue Leonard; and brother, Mark Nelson. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends who will miss his humor, his stories, and his generous heart.

Brad touched the lives of many, and his memory will live on in the love he shared, the laughter he sparked, and the legacy of a life well lived.

There will be a graveside service held at 12:00 PM on Friday, May 15, 2026 at Fargo National Cemetery, Harwood, North Dakota.

A Celebration of Life will follow at Brad's home, where family and friends are invited to gather and share memories at 1706 2nd Avenue South, Fargo.
