Beverly Moen, age 79, left this earth to join her Savior in Heaven on Saturday, May 1, 2010, at Bethany Retirement Living in Fargo, ND. She graciously endured chronic illness and overcame adversity for most of her life. Born in Harvey, ND, on June 24, 1930, Bev was the daughter of the late Fritjof Elverum and Ruth (Johnson) Elverum. She grew up in Fargo, graduated from Central High School and earned her teaching certificate at NDSU. She taught school in Dilworth, MN. She married Dale Moen, June 19, 1954, in Fargo, ND. They lived briefly in Aberdeen, SD, before settling in Fargo to raise their family. Bev had a great gift for nurturing. For almost 30 years, she lovingly cared for many children in her home. She treasured family time and often shared wit and wisdom. Bev was an avid gardener and reader. She liked musicals, classical music and traveling. She had a warm heart and a kind soul, sharing both lifelong and new friendships with many people over the years. She was an active member of First Lutheran Church in Fargo since she was a child, and was an inspiration to many. She is survived by two sons, John (Barb) Moen, North Carolina, and Peter (Heather) Moen, Arizona; two daughters, Rebecca (Mark) Slater, Fargo, ND, and Sara (Brian) Nichols, Wisconsin; brother, John (Nancy) Elverum, Arizona; sister-in-law, JoAnn Eberhart, Fargo, ND; six grandchildren, Steve, Terrin, Alex, Phillip, Andrew and Hannah; great-granddaughter, Claire and three nieces and two nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Moen; parents, Fritz and Ruth Elverum; brother, Gerald Paul; and nephew, Mark Eberhart. Beverly and her family prefer memorials to Churches United for the Homeless, Dorothy Day House, First Lutheran Church or Hospice of the Red River Valley. Funeral: Friday, May 7, 2010, 10:30AM, at First Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND. Visitation: Thursday, May 6, 2010 from 5:00 – 7:30 PM, at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home and one hour prior to services at the church. Prayer Service: Thursday, 7:30 PM at Hanson-Runsvold. Burial: Riverside Cemetery, Fargo, ND. I Corinthians 2:9 – “No Eye Has Seen, No Ear Has Heard, No Mind Has Conceived, What God Has Prepared For Those Who Love Him.”
