In 1947 and 1948, Ardelle attended Interstate Business College in Fargo, ND. She then moved to Sacramento, CA where she was employed by the California State Board of Equalization. She returned to Fargo in 1949 and was employed at North Dakota State University at the Office of Independent Study in 1950 and 1951. There she met Marvin Nordbo when he stopped by her office to ask if she would type his term papers - that was the beginning of a beautiful relationship that would last forever.
