Anna Eileen Savold was born May 10, 1913, to Ethel (Nelson) and Elliot Aanes on a farm near Clermont, Iowa. Eileen went to school in Clermont, Iowa. After graduation, she went to the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls. She graduated with a degree in mathematics. After graduation she taught school in Iowa for four years. On June 6, 1938, Eileen married Juline Savold from Fargo, North Dakota. Juline was Chief Radio Engineer at WDAY for over 40 years, retiring in 1974. Eileen did typical mother things including cooking, sewing, teaching Sunday school, being a den mother, camp fire leader, etc. In 1958, she joined the staff of Olivet Lutheran Church as Parish Education Director. She retired in 1977. After Juline died in 1991, Eileen spent several days a week volunteering at Bethany Nursing Home and at Olivet Lutheran Church. In March or 1996, Eileen suffered a massive stroke and has spent the rest of her life in Elim Nursing Home in Fargo. She died on Tuesday, May 22, 2007, at Elim. Eileen was preceded in death by her husband Juline in 1991, and her brother, Bud Aanes, in 1999. She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Linda Savold, and Steven and Eva Savold; and by her daughter and son-in-law, Marcia and Ted O’Shaughnessy; step-brother, Donald (and Anna Lisa) Kloster; grandchildren, Susan (and Steve) Hathaway, Scott (and Roberta) Savold, Alexia Savold, Max (Bree) Savold, Shannon O’Shaughnessy, Molly O’Shaughnessy, John (and Kenzie) O’Shaughnessy; great grandchildren Bryan and Brent Hathaway; nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Following the Service, Eileen’s body will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery in Fargo next to her husband Juline. May her memory be long blessed among us.
