Amy Smith, 60, of Fargo, ND, died peacefully on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at Eventide in Fargo, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Amy Laura Dixon was born January 1, 1957 in Fargo, ND to John F. and Sarah (Eaton) Dixon.
Amy graduated from Fargo South High school and NDSU with a degree in Fashion Merchandising. She married Dan Smith in 1979 and joined Dan as secretary-treasurer of Smithco Inc, the company he founded.
Amy's passion was art - painting, decorating, and taking art classes; she was a member of several art groups. She enjoyed gardening and arranging flowers. She and her mother, Sarah, were members of PEO for many years. Amy performed in several productions of the FM Opera Company. She loved dalmatians. Amy and Dan enjoyed adventure and traveling, but were happiest spending time at their lake home, which they recently renovated with Amy as the decorator. Her love of bright colors is seen in their homes. She will be missed by family and friends.
Amy is survived by her husband, Dan; her brother, John Dixon III (Kathy); sister Mary Render (Rick); several nieces and nephews; and last, but not least, Howie, her constant (canine) companion.
Amy was preceded in death by her parents, John and Sarah Dixon.
Memorials are preferred to Hospice.
A Private service will be held.
