Rev. Allan Andrew Turmo

Allan Andrew Turmo was born on July 22, 1931 in Eau Claire, WI, the son of the Rev. U. Andrew Turmo and Anne (Lee) Turmo. He was baptized in Caryville, WI, and confirmed at Norman Lutheran Church in rural Kindred, ND. He passed away on Monday, January 26, 2026 at Sheyenne Crossing nursing home.

Allan graduated from Kindred High School in 1949, from Concordia College, Moorhead, MN, in 1953, and from Luther Theological Seminary, St. Paul, MN, in 1957. He was ordained in June 1957 in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and received a Letter of Call to First and Bethany Lutheran Congregations, Rhame, ND. He later served parishes at First Lutheran, New Rockford, ND, Olivet Lutheran, Fargo, three churches in Trail County, ND, Plentywood Lutheran Parish, Plentywood, MT, Bear River and Angora, MN, and Hitterdal and Ulen, MN. He retired in August 1993.

Allan married Mary Faye (Anderson) Turmo on June 5, 1955. To this union, three children were born: Mark (Cecilee) deceased, Stephen (Zhanna), and Kristi (Brian Bartos). Mary died in 1997. He married Bergliot (Herstad) Turmo in 1998.

Allan was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Mary; second wife, Bergliot; and his son, Mark. Allan is survived by his son, Stephen (Zhanna) Tucson, AZ; and his daughter, Kristi (Keith) Austin, TX; and daughter-in-law, Cecilee Turmo (Fargo ND). Other survivors include his sisters, LuAnn Haugen, Willmar MN, Gunhild Gross Portland, ME; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held in the spring at the Atlanta Lutheran Church Cemetery, east of Ulen, MN.
