Paul Wayne Holaday

July 18, 1942 - January 28, 2022

Paul W. Holaday was born July 18, 1942, the son of Winston (Bill) and Kathryn Holaday in St. Charles, MO. He was raised in Vandalia, IL, and graduated from Vandalia High School in 1960. On January 18, 1961, he was united in marriage to Betty E. Niehaus. He received an Associate Degree from Brown's Business College, first working in the banking industry before taking a finance position with the Ralston Purina Company in Vandalia. Paul and Betty had three sons and made their home in Illinois until career opportunities took them to Ottumwa, IA, Boone, IA, Bellevue, NE, and finally, West Fargo, ND, where he finished his career as a Controller with the Ostlund Chemical Company in Fargo, ND. Paul and his wife Betty enjoyed fine dining, gardening, attending North Dakota State University Bison football games, and following their grandchildren in all their activities. They celebrated 58 years of marriage before Betty's passing on April 20, 2020. Paul passed away on Friday, January 28, 2022, at the Eventide Sheyenne Crossing Senior Living Center in West Fargo, ND. He is survived by his sons, William (Pam), David (Cindy), and Darren (Kelly); eight grandchildren, Kimberly, Gretchen, and Mikala (William), Stephanie, Kristopher, and Jessica (David), P.J. (Paul Joseph) and Lucie (Darren); and great-grandchildren, Avery, and Alivia (Stephanie), Huxley, and Lincoln (Kristopher). He is survived by his sister Nancy (Steve) Chase of Bloomington, IL. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, beloved wife, Betty, his sister Frances Holaday, and brother Morris Holaday. A private memorial ceremony and subsequent private gathering will be held in Illinois later this summer, where he will be laid to rest. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in his name to Ethos Home Care & Hospice, 3361 45th St S, Suite 100, Fargo, ND 58104.
