Michael Borgen, 71, of Fargo, ND, was called to his eternal resting place on Wednesday, February 5, 2020, in Fargo.
Michael Vernal Borgen entered this world on July 12, 1948, in Sharon, ND, born to Leonard and Alice (Johnson) Borgen. He was raised in Kloten, ND and was confirmed in Valley Grove Lutheran Church. Mike graduated in 1966 from Kloten High School and attended Valley City State College.
Mike married Virginia Knutson at Sigdal Lutheran Church in rural Tolna, ND on December 27, 1969. They were happy to have just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. He spent 1970-71 in the US Army, serving for a year in Vietnam. In 1972, they moved to Fargo, ND, and he worked for 32 years at the Forum as a printer and belonged to the CWA. He was a member of the American Legion Post 2 and the 40et8, was a life member of the Fargo VFW, DAV, AmVets, and Vietnam Vets.
Mike enjoyed participating in the VFW Color Guard for several years and was an active member of First Lutheran Church in Fargo. Mike enjoyed many hobbies including golfing, fishing, pinochle and going to casinos.
Mike is survived by his wife, Virginia; brother, Richard (Karen) Borgen, Grand Forks, ND; sister, Robin (David) Lane, Alexandria, MN; Sisters-in-law, Louine Ness, Bismarck, ND, Judy Borgen, Devils Lake, ND, Melane Knutson, Tolna, ND, Patricia Knutson, Starkweather, ND; Brothers-in-law, Michael Ness, Bismarck, ND, Sidney Knutson, Devils Lake, ND, Ronald Knutson, Tolna, ND; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Evelyn and Melvin Borgen and Hans and Anna Johnson; brother, James Borgen; sisters-in-law, Julie Borgen and Gayette Knutson; and niece, Alena "Ali" Borgen.
Funeral Service: 11am, Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at First Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND.
Visitation: 6-7pm, Monday, February 10, 2020 at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, ND.
Prayer Service: 7pm, Monday at the funeral home.
Burial: Sigdal Church Cemetery, Tolna, ND
