Matt Jones, 64, died peacefully at his home on June 7, 2021.

Matt was born on July 26, 1956. He was a natural athlete, excelling in hockey and skiing (both downhill and water skiing).

At the age of 11, Matt was the victim of a gun accident. He survived, but had a lifetime of health struggles as a result. Matt was an accomplished carpenter and craftsman, and loved his work until it was cut short when declining health made it impossible for him to continue.

Matt was happiest when hunting, fishing, or just enjoying nature. He was an avid reader, and will be fondly remembered for his sense of humor, beautiful smile, kind eyes, and practical jokes!

Matt is survived by his mother, Maura Jones; and siblings Dan (Julia), Margaret (Jeff Risberg), Paula (Pete Johnson), and Pat (Jen). Matt had 11 nieces and nephews, and 10 great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father Paul, brother Tom, and all his beloved dogs.

The family deeply appreciates the loving care from his Aunt Monica Kuklenski, cousin Nancy Jones, Candace Boyer, and his many supportive friends and neighbors.

A celebration of Matt's life will take place at 11am on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, ND. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to Homeward Animal Shelter in Fargo.
