Marty was born in Jamestown, ND August 1925 to Christ and Katherine (Merkel) Lapp. She attended first grade in Jamestown, and after the move to the family farm near Steele, she attended a one-room country school from 2nd to 8th grade. Marty attended high school in Steele, graduating in 1943.
Marty married Bob Gramm in Bismarck on April 27, 1947. They lived in Aberdeen, South Dakota, before moving to Fargo, where she worked with her husband at Carousel Jewelers. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Fargo for many years.
Marty passed away on Friday, June 5, 2020. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob.
Marty is survived by her daughter, Robin (Luke) Cox, Rapid City, SD; son, Doug (Sandi) Gramm, Fargo, ND; grandchildren, Jason (Sara) Gramm, Sebastopol, CA; Michelle Zavoral, Fargo, ND; David (Katie) Cox, West Fargo, ND; Sara (Jamie) Connolly, Odessa, FL; Ryan Gramm, Fargo, ND; and eleven great-grandchildren, Mariah (Elliot) Bates, Tianna Helland, Max Zavoral, Lauryn Gramm, Morgan Gramm, Payton Gramm, Natalie Gramm, Tyler Connolly, Peyton Connolly, Maverick Cox and Jagger Cox.
She will be buried with her husband, Bob. Private service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be sent to the Shriners Children’s Hospital.
