Irene Henning, 105, passed away on June 7, 2017 at Eventide on Eighth in Moorhead, Minnesota. Irene was born to Henry and Emily (Hanson) Sivertson, May 28, 1912 in Bassano, Alberta, Canada. She attended grade school at First Chance School in Alberta where her parents homesteaded. In 1928, her family moved to North Dakota. She attended Souris High School graduating in 1930. On June 4,1943, Irene was united in marriage to Paul Henning at Bethel Lutheran Church, rural Antler. They lived and farmed near Carbury where they raised their family and enjoyed life in the community.

As a long time member of Turtle Mountain Lutheran Church, Irene was active in Ladies Aid and the life of the congregation. She taught Sunday School, Bible School, and led Bible Studies for many years. Her faith was important to her and she shared her faith in love and service.

In the fall of 1970 Paul and Irene moved to Bottineau. She volunteered in the St. Andrew’s Hospital Auxiliary, quilted with the women of First Lutheran Church, and enjoyed the friendship of many in her birthday club and in the community.

In 2006 after 90 plus years living in Bottineau County, Irene moved to Eventide Moorhead to be closer to family. Not looking back, she embraced life enjoying the events and activities of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Throughout her life, faith, family, and friends were her priorities. She made a loving home for her family and welcomed all new and old friends into her home.

Irene is survived by her children; Emily Burggraff, Moorhead; Marie Elaine (Chuck) Swanson, Moorhead; Ralph (Jeannie) Henning, Bismarck; six grandchildren, Eric (Allison) Burggraff, Jason (Erin) Burggraff, Greta Swanson, Chad (Emma) Swanson, Jonathan Henning, Mark (Krystal) Henning; and 11 great-grandchildren; Lucy, Wyatt, and Paul Burggraff, Rafe, Josiah, and Solveig Burggraff, Anna, Lukas, and Wesley Thompson, Harper Henning, and Maeve Swanson.

She was preceded in death by her husband Paul; three brothers, Neil, Maynard, and Milton; and son-in-law, Gary Burggraff.

Memorials are preferred to Eventide on Eighth, Moorhead or First Lutheran Church, Bottineau.
