Harold Unruh, 93, passed away on March 12, 2020 at Rosewood on Broadway surrounded by his loving family. Harold was born January 5, 1927, to Daniel and Minnie (Martin) Unruh, in Goodrich, ND. He attended a one room school grades one through five. In 1937 his family moved to Casselton, ND. He graduated from Casselton High School.
In 1944, Harold entered the Navy. He was proud of his service aboard the Battleship U.S.S. Missouri. After leaving the Service, he attended Moorhead State College for two years. After college, he worked for several mechanical contractors. In 1964, he started employment with Honeywell as a Pneumatic Specialist, retiring in 1989.
On August 28, 1959, Harold and Lila Hoaby were united in marriage at Pontoppidan Lutheran Church in Fargo, ND. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He loved attending his children's and grandchildren's sporting events and other activities. He also enjoyed woodworking and building gifts for his grandchildren and others.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife Lila, son Gregory (Jill) Unruh, daughters Jill L. Unruh, Jennifer (Tedd) Felger, Jessica (Rick) Young, grandchildren Danielle and Ben Unruh, Brooke and Drake Young. He is survived by his sister Helen Johnson, Fergus Falls, MN.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Minnie (Martin) Unruh, siblings Alvin, Bill, Wesley, Annie Perry, Ella Harmon and Anita Erickson.
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 17, at Hanson Runsvold Funeral Home at 5:30 PM, followed by a prayer service at 7:00 PM. Funeral service at Pontoppidan Lutheran Church on Wednesday, March 18, at 11:00 AM. Burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
