Obituary

Gunnar Verner Eriksson passed peacefully away on November 4, 2021 at the age of 93. He was born and raised in Kiruna, Sweden. At the age of 19, he immigrated to the United States. He became a US citizen, served in the US Army and graduated from Northern State College in Aberdeen, SD with a business degree. He married the love of his life, Betty Ann Guthmiller and they spent 67 years together raising their 4 children; Craig Eriksson, New Braunfels, TX, Kim Melgaard, Canyon Lake, TX, Karla Noonan (Randy Behrens) of Dumont, MN, and Cary (Shelly) Eriksson of Devils Lake, ND.
Gunnar was extremely proud of his children and his 9 beautiful grandchildren; Kasey Davis, Kyle Melgaard, Heather Tibiatowski, Heidi Noonan, Alissa Boline, Adam Eriksson, Britta Simengaard, Beau Eriksson, and Madison Carbert and his 14 great-grandchildren.
Gunnar is also survived by his loving sister, Gun (Bo) Johansson and 3 beautiful nieces, who still reside in Sweden.

He is preceded in death by his parents, O.V. and Agda Niemi, and his son-in-law, Tim Melgaard.

Services will be held Friday, November 12, 2021 at Immanuel Lutheran Church (1258 Broadway N, Fargo, ND) at 11:00AM with a visitation starting at 10am. Internment at the at the Fargo National Cemetery, Harwood, ND.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church Building Fund.
