Obituary

Doris Marie Larson of Fargo, ND, passed into the arms of Jesus on her 97th birthday, Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at Little Hospice in Edina, MN.

Doris was born January 15, 1922 on the family farm near Portland, ND to Anders & Clara (Nelson) Norstebon. She grew up and attended school in Portland, graduated in 1940, and then attended Dakota Business College in Fargo, ND. After working for Merchants National Bank, she traveled to Denver, CO during WWII. While in Denver, she worked at a bank and Russell Stover Candy Company.

Doris married Norman J. Larson on September 8, 1946 at her farm home west of Portland. She and her husband built their home in Fargo and she worked for her husband’s business, Harold’s Optical, managing the payroll. The couple was blessed with three daughters.

In Doris’ early years, she was a member and confirmed in the Christian faith at Aurdal Lutheran Church in Portland. She and her husband were members of First Lutheran Church, Fargo.

Doris was a faithful servant of Christ, teaching us by example how to live with joy and serve others with eagerness. She was an inspiration to those who were privileged to know her. Many claimed her as their second mom.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Anders and Clara Norstebon; husband, Norman; brother, Lloyd and sister-in-law, Phyllis; brother, Robert; brother, Willard; and brother-in-law, Jerry Mastroianna.
